If you can't beat them; join them!

Ok...so we were inundated with snow this past weekend, and of course, the temps were way to cold to send the boys outside. So, we all had cabin fever and tensions mounted. By Sunday, we were all at each other's throats.
After Mike and I telling the boys for at least the 9 millionith time to quit sliding down the stairs like rocket ships (on their bellies and on their bottoms) - they just don't listen. Parker got a rug burn and Connner got kicked in the head because Parker went too fast after Conner did...and so the story went on an on.
Well, Mike and I had it. However, instead of yelling - we joined them. I think the boys were in utter shock when they saw Mike slide down the stairs on his belly and then Mommy did the same thing and did it on her belly and on her bottom!
I've never laughed so hard in my life. We were all laughing ....
Lesson learned: When you can't beat 'em; join 'em...is it really going to kill them? And the final lesson learned is that once you pass 12 you should not slide down the stairs on any part of your body (every stinking joint in my body hurts today!).
Sorry I don't have any great pics of this...but I'm sure your imagination can make some up...especially knowing Mike and I and our stairs.

Happy New Year!

Well, we arrived back in Ohio on New Year's Eve to 28 degree weather. Big bummer from the nice weather on the West Coast. We had a great DFV (Doherty Family Vacation) 2008. Lots and lots of fun. We did San Francisco 3 days out of the 5, which is a huge feat for my father (and Brian) who just LOVE to go to the City. We rode a cable car and now all Conner does is say "Ding Ding Ding"...or he makes the noise the Sea Lions did at Pier 39. We ate at No. 9 Fisherman's Grotto, which has become a Doherty Family tradition. Best clam chowder and sourdough around (not sure that is entirely true, but it is the best to us). We got to drive up to the top of Mt. Diablo, go to Alcatraz and see ChinaTown. We also got to meet our little Kara (new niece) and watch her be baptized. Although, I really think it was an excorsism as Kara screamed the entire time - when the priest was finished, she was a happy little camper. Guess they scared the "devil" out of her. Our family friend, Kathy Arroyo told Kim, "Kara was crying because she really wants to be Jewish". Mike, Dad and Brian became famous on the Casa Belicoso website - the new Cigar Bar in Walnut Creek (you can check them out at casabelicoso.com and I believe they are around picture 10).
Lots of great times - good laughs and all in all a great vacation. We all missed Parker and he was the lucky dog that got to go to Arizona and have nice warm weather!

Thanks Dad!!! See everyone for the dfc (doherty family conference) in June in DC, then for DFV 2009 in Seattle in July.
